I am currently in the process of choosing the parts for my very first build. I plan on it being a budget gaming build meant to run most games that are out now but not necessarily all at ultra graphic or anything. I don't plan on buying a monitor since I have access to an old one that should be fine.

The current state of my build is here: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/XYjF

Location: Montreal, Canada

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: No

My budget is very tight so any increases in price can't be too high unless it is absolutely needed. I will vary within $50 though.

Since this is my first build I have very little experience with what parts are the best and what sacrifices I can make without breaking the system.

Do you need 1TB storage, an optical drive and the wifi card? My recommendation would be to drop the 8GB of memory down to 4, as it's quite expensive right now and you're on a budget. Below I've linked to PCPartpicker builds for you to choose from. Both are around $600.

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Svnryn/saved/1BUx ($593 after rebate)

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Svnryn/saved/1BUG ($603)

The top link features a 1TB HDD and a HD 7770. The second link features a 500GB HDD and HD 7790 (better performance). The two links are mostly American retailers featuring free shipping and not sure if that applies to Canada or not. Both builds feature a better board for overclocking and is the only one cheap enough within your budget. They both also feature a beefier power supply that the guys at Toms used in some of their builds last year. You'll need the extra juice to potentially overclock.

Just in case, I've included a setup with Canadian retailers. However, only one of the parts has free shipping, but it's in the 600 price range.

When you get a little more money, I advise getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ CPU cooler. Will allow you to get a good overclock on that 6300. Anyways, enjoy.

EDIT: You could also try this build with the Phenom II X4 quad core.

Dropping the Terabyte drive was something I was considering and I do need either a wireles network adapter or I need a really long ethernet cable do to the fact that it is impossible to move my modem.

I really like the build you suggested and depending on other factors I may be able to upgrade to a 7850 which I would actually really like due to the performance increase and Bioshock Infinite

Mate,

You can get Blood Dragon, Bioshock and Tomb Raider with the 7790. Same applies with the 7850. Play around with the config I gave you on pcpartpicker.com. Really great website. Using that you can find what suits you or not. CPU wise it's between the Phenom II X4 and FX-6300. Your choice as to what else applies; although you guys get screwed in Canada. Just saying...Good luck man.

BTW: I think it's cheaper to get a longer ethernet cable than paying $20+ for a wi-fi card. Just my opinion. Wi-fi card won't be as good.
