Basically to start, I did a build for a family member based on one of the recent posted budget builds here with some swaps with hardware I already had laying around:
Intel Pentium G850 2.9 GHz
G.SKILL Value Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3
COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus 500W
ASRock H77 Pro4/MVP LGA 1155 Intel H77
Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB
XFX HD6870
Windows 7 Home OEM 64bit
I did the build a several weeks ago and for about 4-5 days ran flawlessly. Then one day I get a message saying it won't turn on. I go to check it out and check all obvious reasons (loose connections, shorts, bad cord, etc...) and don't come across anything. It appears no power is coming through at all. No lights or beeps from the mobo or fans spinning even momentarily.
Suspecting it was a bad PSU, I RMA'ed it and got a replacement today. Plugged it in and still nothing. I tried the jump test (from green to black) and it does turn on so PSU is definitely fine now.
Tried taking out out the videocard, clearing CMOs, disconnecting everything but ram and cpu, and still nothing.
