I was holding my MB inside the case to line up where my standoff screws would go. I didn't notice but i had my thumb on the black component in that picture that says "Z77". Well, when I was lifting the MB back out of the case the component bent back a bit and then back into place. I checked the back of the board and saw that its held in by push-pins.

Did i damage it by bending it a little? And what exactly is the Black Shield-looking component in the picture?(the piece that flexed out of place then back into place)

Solution
It is a heatsink(to cool the voltage regulators). Chances are you are ok, but you NEVER want to do that with the system on.

I have seen some chipset heatsinks that moved rather easy as well, it was never a problem as long as you are careful and avoid moving it any more.
