I am pretty indecisive whether or not I should get a Noctua NH-D14 or a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. I know Noctua has made some really nice fans but the reviews on Newegg aren't the best for it. Please respond I need to know.

How far will you overclock the Intel Core i7-3930K?

To be quite honest I just plan on buying the turbo which OC's it to 3.9. So I really don't plan on overclocking it.

Ya... the CM 212 EVO is only capable of overclocking the 3930k to around 3.8-3.9ghz while having it around 60-65C on load.... so you'll probably want to get to a NH-D14 if you're gonna overclock it further.

if you're running it on stock clocks, even the stock cooler would be fine.

But that cooler is a monster and I am afraid it will just fall off cuz it will be mounted on a vertical MOBO. Also I am pretty content with 3.9 Ghz, that is pretty damn fast.

If you think the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is big, you have seen nothing yet. The Noctua one will make the Cooler Master one look small.

I know it is a monster, but down to the meat of the matter. Will a hyper 212 EVO cool my i7-3930k at 3.9 GHz With no problems?

And that is a winner! Thank ksham for your willingness to answer my questions and eal with my idiocy with CPU coolers. It is my first build so I am very cautious I guess.

There is nothing wrong with admitting that you need help and asking for help when you need it. ;)
