here is the dilema- new system- Newbie installing, mobo p8 z77v mobo, 8gb ram, gtx660 2gb and modular power supply by corsair, my issue is when i went to hook up disk drives this ugly orange cable stating it was a "ultra ata 133 cable" and it doesnt fit anywhere on the new mobo, it came from the disk drives i believe- so do i A: just use another plug, or B: do i need to order new disk drives? I am newbie to installing hardware and such and will need alot of direction. if you need more info- i will answer to my capability :/

what is a fast or real good drive, i am green when it comes to this stuff, thanks by the way for the answer as of yet. yes the mobo it comes from is a older build,,maybe almost 5 years ago now, great guess.

pretty much any 3.5 inch 7200RPM SATA drive with good reviews will make a fine OS drive. cost is going to depend on the capacity you want and warranty term. The lower RPM drives are better used for just data storage. you could also get an SSD, which are great for an OS but cost more for less space.

If you know size/budget/how you'll use it someone will probate be able to make a more specific recommendation

ok, I am a gamer, price- not beyond 100.00, was hoping to go thru new egg as i have an account, and anything above 512mb should suffice but more is usually better.
