I bought a 1100T off of craigslist new, but when I put it in my build it would run fine until any pressure was put on it and then it would get very very hot. So I put my 960T back in and now I have no idea what to do with this $180 processor. Any thoughts?

U sure its bad? or is the cooler not touching the cpu? You could be a dick and resell it on craigslist lol or see if amd will replace but its prob out of warranty so rlly u got a nice cpu to use in a htpc lol turn off half the cores and run and a lower clock speed lol

Ya, I'm sure its bad, I've tried it like 3 times even with the 212.

reinstall it and disable to a quad core or something and run at a lower speed, if it'll run like that its better than not using it, how are voltages and stuff? i got a dual core and board off craigslist and im pretty sure the cpu was still partly overclocked as it got real hot, so reset bios to default reapplied paste and runs like a dream

Ya, I tried that and even attempted undervolting, but no luck just would get crazy hot. Might try the 4 core thing though, do you think at 4 cores it would be better than the 960T?

well the 960t is stock 3.0ghz, if as a quad core its a 3.3ghz cpu so if stable and temps are good then yes it should be, but ur 960t is overclockable to prob 3.8-4ghz.

Also did u attempt to unlock ur 960t as a 6core? the "T" in the naming indicates it is a Thuban (hexacore) with 2 cores disabled if u didnt know

Yes, I have been able to unlock to all 6, but I keep at 4 because I don't really use too many applications at the same time.

My friend was going to build a PC so I was going to sell him my 960T and then get the 1100T.
