I am looking to purchase a Radeon 7950 this weekend. I was looking over my motherboard, a ASRock 880 GMH AM3+... I see that under the 7950 specifications the PCI interface is listed as PCI Express 3.0 x 16... However, the ASRock website lists the PCI slots as 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x 16 slots (blue @ x16 mode), 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x 1 slot and 2 x PCI Slots. I don't know if these two will be compatible or what issues I may run into.
Previously I had a Radeon 6770, which failed after a little over a year. The 6770 used a 2.1 x 16 PCI Express Interface. I have done some reading about PCI compatibility online but it has just left my head spinning. Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
