Hi I have a asrock z77 pro3 and it has dual channel support and two such dual channel capability.
My question is I have a ripjaws for 4 gig and I plan to add another. (The same).
Now will this work in dual channel mode.
Now what if I add another 2 stick(Of same/higher Clock speed) to the mobo?
The other two being 8gig.( Will I have 24 gig of memory?)
or
Just 16 or 8 gigs of memory. Will both dual channels works?
It would be great if somebody could explain this in layman's words.
Also(The ram that i'm gonna add was not recieved as a combo/set/pair.)
I bought one 3 months and I need another now.(For video stuff).
Ty guys

Solution
Yes, theoretically, you can add another identical stick and run in dual-channel mode when both sticks are in the proper slots (refer to your mobo user manual for recommended slots). However, there is a chance that the new stick won't be 100% compatable with the original, which could cause issues. When wanting to run dual-channel, you are always better off buying your sticks in pairs (they are matched at the manufacturer) to avoid this issue.
As to your question about adding an additional two higher speed sticks later, be aware that they will only run at the original pairs (lower) speed, so don't waste the extra money, buy a pair of sticks the same speed as the original pair..

You know I was scared with people saying theoratcially and Linux explaining why the SAME ram bought at different time could not work togther. But It did. Very well might I add.
And I enjoying the full benefit of it.
