I've been trolling the site to see what others did about this but I haven't seen a solution that works for me....

I have a windows partition on my Mac for gaming. I just installed Windows 7 a couple of days ago and had to update a whole bunch of drivers, including an audio driver for my Realtek HD Audio. It's now working almost, but not quite right....

I play with a Razer Carcharias headset which has two 3.5mm jacks, one for headphones and one for mic. When I open the sound manager there are three analog jacks displayed, but my actual computer only has two. The two that are active (not greyed out on the display) are "headphones" and "line in." The mic jack on the display is greyed out.

Is there a way to reconfigure so that the driver recognizes the "line in" jack as the "mic" jack? On my physical computer, it is listed as a mic jack.

Any help much appreciated. I am not highly techy, so please use small words :)

Well, have you tried speaking into mic, to see if it works just like that? In windows there is system tool to record speech, open it and test the mic.
Second thought, your mac manual probably covers this issue.

The mac has a built-in mic that does work. I just can't seem to override it with the boom mic on the headset.
