Hi,
I have the Intel HD 4000 graphics.
It has a windows XP 32 bit driver.
The driver works fine under normal XP operation but does not support XP under the 3GB switch.
In the drivers info it says it needs at least 1 GB of system memory for the driver to work. this is probably not available under the 3GB operation.
I'm currently using the VGAsave driver which does not have 75hz support for my screen so the visuals are not so great.
Changing to 64bit is not an option.. :)
What im looking for is :
A driver, Intel or generic, with a smaller demand for memory that will work with the intel HD 4000 under win XP 32bit and has 75hz support. I don't need any sophisticated graphics.

Thanks

I'm using software that doesn't support 64bit.
I must use that piece of software for work.
Any 32bit operating system won't support more than 4GB of memory anyway so XP is fine.

So how about directing me to a driver that will work a bit, just a bit, better than VGAsave ?

32 bit applications are limited to a 4GiB virtual address space, but any 32 bit operating system with a PAE aware kernel can support up to 64GiB of memory as long as the memory controller and CPU support it as well.

For marketing and legacy driver compatibility reasons Microsoft disables remapped memory in 32 bit consumer versions of Windows. This gives the "appearance" of the OS only supporting 4 GiB when it in fact supports up to 64. Any individual hardware isolated process will still be limited to 4GiB though.

There are some kernel hacks for Windows XP which can enable memory remapping which will make the entirety of the physical memory available for use (up to 64GiB). Alternatively, 32 bit versions of Windows Server 2003 Enterprise/Datacenter and Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise/Datacenter will also work.

Interesting..
I'm ok though with 3gb for the application.
Still looking for a driver that will make the HD 4000 work on the 3GB switch.
the HD 4000 is currently disabled on the device manager.

Sorry but I haven't used an IGP in ages, can't help you there
