Ive just built a new PC, and my XFX RADEON 7790 CORE 1075M 1GB is not being detected properly.

Mobo is MSI 760GA-P43 (FX), Sockel AM3+, ATX, PCIe. Running win8 64bit.

The HDMI and DVI connector on the GFX card is working, as its displaying the desktop to my tv, but the actual graphics card is not being detected otherwise if you get what I mean. When playing games, it wont let me select the XFX 7790 as an graphics adapter, it just comes with the windows adapter or whatever its called.

Also, I dont have any graphics settings in catalyst control centre, just power and profiles or something.

The fan on the card is working, though.

I have tried reseating the card, installing the latest drivers, no difference.

Any ideas? Here is what Im seeing under GPU Z: http://i.imgur.com/poTMy7f.png

When I first got my sapphire 7870XT most of the software would not recognise the gpu even sapphire trixx. It was just released but after a bit of time catalyst, trixx and msi afterburner recognised it, but cpuz still does not. I would give it a bit of time to see if your very new gpu eventually gets recognised.

Problem is though, I was hoping to be playing games on it soon. it just seems odd that its not being recognised in games either, I cant select it as a graphics adapter.

It is a software problem. When I finally got MSI afterburner to recognise my 7870XT I found that the gpu was running the latest catalyst drivers from the start, it just was not showing it.

Is there a way then to be able to pick the XFX 7790 as the graphics adapter in my games, as at the moment, I can only pick Microsoft display adapter. Did you have that issue?

It does not know what gpu you have so it calls it the microsoft display adapter, just choose it and see how your games work out. Have you tried the beta drivers that ur6beersaway recommended.

I can finally reply to this now, seeing as the awful servers this website is on are back up, over 12 hours later...

I tried the beta driver, no difference it seems. Also, my games lag on even the most basic settings, so the card is not working correctly or installed correctly. Here is the index scores: http://i.imgur.com/1YxQoNf.png

Yeah, turns out when I reinstalled windows 7, and tried it with that, it works fine. Pity as I like windows 8, but this is too much hassle.
