Which Card is better for Games like Far cry 3 and Bf3? I'm not very worried about free games, only performance. Also, which brand should I buy (Asus, Gigbyte, Sapphire, EVGa, etc)?
Specs:
i5 3570
8gb ram
600 watt ps
Gigabyte z77 motherboard

The 7950 is a little better in bf3 and the 660ti is a little better than the 7950 in far cry 3. These are also based on 5 month old benchmarks. So the 7950 might be a little ahead in both now because they amd drivers have tended to get better boosts in performance over nvidia in the past few months.

BF3 favors nvidia, while FC3 favors AMD a little. It depends on what you like. I've owned both Nvidia and AMD cards, not a fanboi of either. I like to buy one, then the other with each new system or upgrade. Drivers from AMD haven't given me any problems, BTW.

Personally, I'd get the best cooled card with the best warranty. ASUS, MSI, or any of the brands with at least two fans keeping the card as cool as possible under load is a priority.

The 660ti is worth $200 to me, but prices are much higher for both - get one on sale if you go that route. Find a deal on either.

I would go for the Sapphire HD 7950 overall I think it is just a better card. With Nvidia I would not get any thing lower than a GTX 670 below that I would go AMD all the way.

So with the 7950 I can get good FPS on high/ultra on bf3 or far cry?

Yes, I get 60fps on bf3 and 40-55 in far cry 3, usually around 45. That is on ultra settings.

I play bf3 with settings completely maxed, and I have fc3 maxed except I have AA at x2. I couldn't even tell the difference past that in all honesty.

this may sound biased. but buying 660ti is only for the sake of the brand , the physx and beyond gaming(adobe stuff).

if you plan on upgrading to dual cards later, go NVidia. if you plan to keep it as a single card, the 7950 is a tad faster. Both good cards though.
