I just built a new pc this morning and loaded windows 8 on it and everything was working fine for about 4 hours. I walked away from my computer for a bit to come back and I was in a reboot loop and there were thin off-colored lines on my screen. I reset windows and was able to boot back up, just to find out that my Gigabyte Gtx 660 is not in device manager. I've tried downloading the drivers and it just restarts in the middle of the installation.
My specs are:
Intel i5-3570k with a hyper 212 evo
MSI z77a-gd65 mobo
Gigabyte Gtx 660
Corsair 650 watt psu

Also i forgot to mention that the card is still getting power, because the fans are running. My hdmi is still hooked up to the card and I am still getting a picture on the screen. And I have tried switching pci-e slots, which did not help.

Could my graphics card still considered to be dead even if I still have my hdmi plugged into the card and its showing up to the monitor, but it has lines all across it. Still haven't got it to show in device manager either.

Ok I'll try that. Will flashing the bios be necessary though?

Well I switched over to my integrated graphics and was able to get my gtx 660 to show up, then windows managed to crash my integrated graphics driver. So now I get bsod everytime I boot.

I tried booting it up with the graphics card and the screen is still messed up.. I'll try to download the latest drivers if it will let me boot into windows. I'm not sure what the problem is, but the graphics card may just be bad

Everytime I boot into windows with the graphics card it goes straight to automatic repair.. But it does not do that with the integrated graphics.

Well I thought it was a driver issue with the graphics card when I booted up with it. I will have off color lines across my screen. So I switched to my integrated card and got the graphics card to show up in device manager, but I still couldn't update to the latest driver. So I think its just a bad GPU, because nothing has changed when I boot with my GPU. And it works fine with the integrated gpu.

Yeah I already have a replacement on the way. Just going to run it off my integrated gpu for now I guess. There's nothing else I can do.
