ASUS Maximus V Formula won't post. Everything works fine until it tries to enter the bios and says there is a CPU fan error. Sure enough the CPU fan isn't running and I can't figure out why. The top of the mono offers connections for both an 8pin CPU power connection and a 4 pin connection. Not sure why this is since its a high end mono, so I have tried both using the 8 pin as well as all 12 pins. There are also 2 CPU connectors for what look like fans on the mono, one called CPU fan and the other CPU opt. Not sure what the second one is but I have tried both, in both power cable configurations. Anyone had any ideas?

You need both the 8Pin and 4Pin CPU power connectors plugged in. If it's anything like the Asus board in my HTPC, it will ask for confirmation (press F1 or something) if it doesn't detect a CPU fan plugged in/spinning. That's what the four narrow pins in a line marked CPU_FAN are for. You CPU fan should be plugged into them.

There may be an option in the BIOS to disable the warnings.

Hi, Is it the stock CPU fan? If not, can you try installing the stock one and test?
The 4 pin is for extra power. If the power supply has both 8 pin and 4 pin ATX connectors, then connect them both. If not, single 8 pin should work.
Use the CPU_fan header if single cable from the CPU cooler.
