I want to upgrade my current graphic card and ram since I'm still using what came with the computer.
I currently own a HP Pavilion p6620f desktop pc
The current processor is an AMD phenom 2 x4
The graphics card is a integrated graphic card of ATI Radeon 4200.
The spec's says it will take one PCI Express x16 and will only use either the graphic card or the integrated one not both.
I know my pc is a few years old but I don't want to buy my next one I want to build it. However I don't yet have the money. I was thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129272

Would that be better and would it work in my computer.

Thank-you in advance

You will see better performance by dropping in a dedicated graphics card, that much will happen. But yes it may not be worth dropping a lot of money given the age of the system and possible incompatibility issues.

If your really usdure but still want to go for an upgrade, throw in a HD7750. You get far better performance than what your motherboard GPU offers, and if it is bottlenecked by the CPU you havent wasted much money.

When possible go for current gen cards, older cards typically dont perform as well as their lower tiered but modern equivalents and have a higher power consumption.

Also the connectors on your PSU could dictate what you can upgrade too. If it doesnt have a 6pin PCI-E connector (below), then the most you can get is a HD7750.

Thank-you for your advice I'm still unsure lol. The thing is I'm getting some extra cash, but only enough to do this upgrade not enough for a full build. It sounds like the update may be only slightly beneficial and beyond that just be a waste of money?

okay Thank-you for all your help I'll probably do that and get the new ram till I can build my own pc.

When you say bottleneck I'm guessing you mean that the cpu is just going to limit the graphics cards ability
