okay so i'm planning to build my first gaming rig, i have played around with pc's plenty (including taking one completely apart and moving into another case and adding some extra bits to it) So i am confident that I will be able to build this with few problems.

I just need a bit of advice on components, I'm setting myself a budget of around £750, the closer to that the better.

This is what i'm currently thinking:

Case: http://www.cougar-world.com/products/pc_case/challenger.html orange
CPU: amd bulldozeer fx-4100 3.6ghz quad core
Motherboard: no idea yet but preferably asus or gigabyte and between £90-130 need some helping working which is the best for me
CPU Cooler: Thermaltake Frio CPU Cooler have one in my current pc and it works really well so unless someone knows anything better around that price i'll go with this)
PSU: Corsair Gaming Series 2013 Edition GS 800W ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply Unit
RAM: i currently have 12GB in my pc but i'll be converting that to a file server so will take 8GB out for this pc
Storage: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1680095/build-storage-set.html
OS: windows 7
GPU: Radeon but not sure which yet, looking around the £150 mark

Any Advice will be very helpful

Thanks

Sam

this doesn't look as though it has an internal usb3 header which i'll need for the usb 3 ports on the front of my case, also i am prepared to spend the £90-130 on a decent mobo as its the hardest thing to replace so would rather have a really good one that will last instead of a "this will do" one

I was gonna say fx-6300, but you can get the 8350 under your budget.

This is only bronze certified, the e9 has a better quality and its gold certified.
Dont need more watt, this pc won't consume more then 400w.

And i would get this case
Cougar isnt the best

I missed your comment about wanting a front USB 3.0. It is useful. The Gigabyte one does have USB 3.0 front panel and it is a very well made board.

thanks for that link envy

i've had a play around with it, ignore what it says for case and psu but i've put in the price of the cougar case (which i'm not going to change, i love the design of and all the reviews i've read say its really good for building in) and i also put in the price of psu that marcopolo originally suggested (Be Quiet! CM BQT E9-CM-580W PSU Straight Power)

also decided that a gaming rig shouldn't need 8 cores not anytime soon anyway so went down to a quad core and increased the clock speed

Hows this?

Yes, 8 cores isn't needed, but I'm not suggesting it for that reason. The fx-8350 competes with the 3570k. It's just a great all around CPU.

The fx-4350 is new. I'm gonna assume the performance is slightly better than the fx-4300. If so, then the 4350 is good in games, but the fx-63xx is better all around. My vote is the fx-6350.

I don't like Fractal PSUs. I suggest Seasonic, XFX, or Antec. The link I gave you has good PSUs and they are bronze rated. Fractal isn't considered top tier, but it is Gold so if you like it..buy it.

The CPU cooler: Why not get the Thermaltake Frio? You mentioned it before and I agee,...it's awesome. If I had more to spend I would have bought that one. It got great reviews and it isn't loud.

sorry i possibly didn't make it clear. i am going to use this psu http://www.amazon.co.uk/Be-Quiet-E9-CM-580W-Straight-Power/dp/B005LUXLUU/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1368953370&sr=1-1&keywords=Be+quiet+e9

i just put the other one into the list with the one aboves price so i could see the total price.

if you think the 6350 is a better choice then i'll go with that

and i think i will use a thermal take frio i have one atm and it does a good job so will get another

I think your build is solid. Just heads up people will criticize it on two points:

1) Why an expensive cooler? You could buy a Cooler Master Evo and use more money for the CPU.
The money saved could buy a 8320, which is faster in non gaming applications.
2) PSU. Buy from a higher quality manufacturer.

The fx-6350 comes out of the box at a higher core clock. Since you will be overclocking anyways, you could
just get the fx-6300.

With that said, any of the choices you make are good. You chose a great GPU and good overall build. It'll smash
all games.

thanks for all your help, i probably won't be building till after my exams. so i'll see what prices look like then and see whether i'll upgrade the cpu. I will make a project log when i build it and i'll post it on the forums here, so watch out for it!
