Hi everybody!

Since my poor laptop is asking for some mercy, I decided to buy a new computer. I am going to assemble it myself (my first rig!), and I spent a lot of time researching on the components, (and reading Tom's Hardware helped A LOT!).

So far, here's what I came up with:
CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor ($499.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100 92.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($79.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4 ATX LGA2011 Motherboard ($237.56 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Performance 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($249.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Kingston HyperX 3K 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($118.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($84.99 @ Adorama)
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 (Gunmetal/Black) ATX Mid Tower Case ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $1341.50

The big question mark is the vga.

The main usage of this system will be renderings for my reel (3ds Max and Maya, mostly Mental Ray). At the moment I'm not really into GPU / realtime renderings, it's gonna be mostly stills and simple animations. From what I've read, looks like there's some sort of "hype" surrounding Quadros when it comes to 3D design, but many people think that they're just too pricey for being basically GeForces with certified (and uncrippled) firmware and drivers. I read many benchmarks involving GTX690, GTX680, GTX580 (which surprisingly outperformed the GTX6xx in 3D benchmarks) and Radeon HD7970. Even though the budget is not really tight, the rig is already kinda expensive, therefore I would first like to understand whether I need one of those pricey cards for my work. I would really hate buying an expensive card and not using it to its full potential, so any suggestion on what I should be looking for in a video card in my case would be highly appreciated.
As a side note, it would be fine if I could play games smoothly with my new system, but that's not the main concern, nor I am a pro-gamer obsessed by high detail and framrates.

Thank you!
