I want to build a PC, and currently have a 1440x900 resolution monitor. I know its not a very big screen, but it's fine for me, and games look fairly well on it. I want to save as much money as possible. Is a 1GB graphics card good enough for this?

Heres what i have in mind (Purchasing from NCIX)
CPU: Phenom II X4 965 BE 3,4GHZ 125W - $85
I'll be cooling it with a Hyper 212 EVO - $30

Motherboard: MSI 970A-G46 ATX AM3+ 970 - $90

RAM: I'm not sure if 4GB is enough. Every 8GB kit i found is 60 bucks or more

GPU: I would like a card for under $200 that can run most games on high settings for my resolution.

PSU: Not sure on what powersupply to get. Will a 80+ bronze 500W be enough?
Case: A decent case for under $60. I'm thinking of using the Carbide 200R

-Will be purchasing from NCIX.ca and i'd like to keep it all under $650 or less if possible.

1GB is enough for that res (http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=77797&vpn=FX-785A-ZNL4&manufacture=XFX&promoid=1079 this is a steal). Ram 4gb is sufficient for now, but to be sure you might wanna get 8GB as the prices are only going up. PSU 500W 80+ is good as long as you get it form a trusted supplier (XFX, Corsair, Seasonic, Antec etc).

I like the Antec GX700 case alot, but depends on your taste.

RAM: Yes, 4GB's should be enough for gaming.

GPU: I'd recommend you to get one of the EVGA 650Ti Boost which is around £130/$202 CAD max however, I found one on NCIX for $180 CAD. (http://ncix.ca/products/?sku=81757&vpn=02G-P4-3657-KR&manufacture=eVGA&promoid=1079)

For the PSU, I'd recommend you to get a Corsair CX600M. I'm using it for my new build and seems a pretty solid PSU, It is also modular.

Case: The Carbide 200R seems a pretty good case to me.

Hmm and why wouldn't he get the 7850 i posted though? cheaper than the nvid and more then sufficient.

i didn't notice your recomendation. sorta skimmed the comments actually.

but you're right. a 7850 with 1gb of ram is MORE then enough. far more then he really needs actually.

At that res a 7750 or 7770 should do incredibly well, running all games at max at playable framerates. 4GB or RAM will be enough, but just enough. In a matter of a year 4GB may not cut it, so it is best to spend the extra money and go with 8GB. Alternatively, you could get 4GB and upgrade later, because recently RAM prices are at the highest I have seen in a while. When I bought my 8GB 1866mhz RAM just this January it was $50.

Okay so i'll go for the 8GB kit. Will i get better performance with 1600mhz ram instead of 1333mhz? Oh and the 1gb 7850 is $160 where as the 2GB 650 ti boost is $170-190. Also, i currently have a msi radeon hd 7770, but i'm unable to play games such as planetside 2 on lowest settings

I took a look at the GX700, it's not really my taste. I'll stick with the 200R and get a corsair PSU

Literally not possible. The 7770 runs Planetside 2 on high at 1080p.

Also yes, 1600mhz RAM is significantly better than 1333mhz RAM.

Really? This is news to me. It's extremely unplayable (5-10fps) on my resolution on LOW settings. It may be because the other hardware in my current rig is very old. I have a core 2 duo 6600, Radeon HD 7770, and 2gb of ddr2 memory. But i still thought i'd be able to play on low settings. Guess not.

It's definitely either your CPU or RAM, most likely your RAM, that is severely bottlenecking the card.
