New GPU working fine now but can't get a video signal in just Safe Mode

Hi all,

I recently upgraded my GPU drivers and sorted out some conflicting GPU ones. Everything was fine I thought until I tried to boot into Safe Mode and lost all video signal. I'm assuming that plugging the monitor into the onboard GPU wouldn't work since my computer disabled it when I installed the new card.

Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? I've tried searching Google but it just turned up results of people who could only get video signal in safe mode, not the other way around. Thanks.

Um, this isn't a build suggestion thread. And that build if I were teaching a class would get a C- grade at best.

OP: What GPU are you using and what motherboard are you using? Can you get to the BIOS screen at all on your motherboard?

I'm using an ASUS 6670 GPU, not sure about the motherboard but it's in an ASUS machine (I'll find out the model tomorrow morning). I can get to the BIOS screen fine and the all the boot options. Also, when I select Safe Mode the drivers list loads fine and then I lose video signal right before Windows logs in.

Does your PC support onboard video? If so then try taking the card out of your machine and running it off the onboard video. That will determine whether or not it's the GPU or the drivers.
