When accessing folders on my hard drive, such as the C: drive, or clicking my pictures folder I''ll get a strange problem. The computer will hang for about 3 seconds. After the few seconds pass, my computer is able to access everything normally.

This happens almost all the time, so I'm wondering why. I have W8 64 bit installed on my computer.

Accessing files is the only problem I encounter. I have no trouble when gaming, or anything else. Just circumstances similar to what I mentioned above.

Here's a recording:

Your hard drive is going to sleep and when you access something not cached it needs a few seconds to spin back up to speed and access whatever it is you clicked on. This is normal behavior and you likely can change it in the advanced power plan settings.

edit - I say 'likely' because some drives may still still spin down due to a setting in their firmware. WD green drives used to do this and there was a special program you needed to run to set the timer value to 0 to turn it off.
