Hello,
I'm trying to narrow down a problem with my system, it is a custom built computer, running Windows 7 Professional.
Starting yesterday, the computer would just black screen for a second and restart, with no error codes, no BSOD, and nodump file.

My building has old wiring and power surges is an issue, but I unplugged my PSU/surge protector from the wall and computer was able to function for over 2 minutes on battery alone so the battery is not dry and battery should intervene if AC voltage goes above 136 or below 96 volts.

-According to CoreTemp, average idle temperature is around 33°C and around 63°C while running Prime95.
-According to AXTU ASRock tuning utility, MoBo temp is 31°C, SB temp is 31°C, SB fan never runs after initial boot. Not sure if that could be an issue.
-I have ran Memtest86+ for an hour and it didn’t report any issues.
-Thermaltake software does not give me any overheating warning, liquid temperature is 30°C on average, 1150 RPM fan speed and 3050 RPM pump speed

Reboot happens during different times of the day, so i’m not sure if something like NOD32 self-updating could be blamed.
Also while using different software - sometimes i can render from 3D application for hours without a problem, sometimes it reboots while i’m using one app like Illustrator or none at all. I’m currently running Prime95, After Effects, Illustrator and NOD32 computer scan for over an hour now and everything works @100% load and 3.5GHz clock speed.

Any idea what it could possibly be?

thank you
-Katya

Hm , ok.
ok, you seem to have covered all the basics, i don't know what to advise you. : D
This is long shot , but have you considered that one of the hard drives is going bad?Thibk about performing a scan for bad sectors with this http://www.seagate.com/support/external-hard-drives/portable-hard-drives/freeagent-go-classic/seatools-win-master/

arggghh, 3 out of 5 HDDs failed short DST, a brand-new OS SSD and 2 older spinny drives
all HDDs passed short generic tests. running long generic now.

is failed Drive Self-Test enough for the whole system to spontaneously reboot?

thank you for the SeaTools link, i didn't know about it.
