What a journey! I started by wanting an upgrade until my motherboard died (what a coincidence) and from there I've been wandering around until I've got the following build.

I am aiming at enthusiastic gaming performance as well as good applications performance (like Photoshop, Visual Studio) and also a system compatible with ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

I need to order the build before may 31. It's when the offer of Radeon HD 7000 series ends. Concerning the budget, something around 1200$ (although I could be flexible with it)

After a while researching, this is what I have come up with:
RAM: G.SKILL 8GB (2 x 4GB) Ripjaws X Series DDR3 1600MHz 240-Pin PC3-12800 Desktop Memory F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 WindForce
Rationale: I had doubts between GTX 670, Radeon HD 7970 and Radeon HD 7950. Radeon won me because the give you crysis 3 and boishock infinite for free. I have chosen the Radeon HD 7950 because it seems quiter than the 7970 (is that right?).
Power Source: Corsair Enthusiast Series TX 750 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze (TX750)
Monitor: ASUS VG248QE 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor 144Hz
SDD:Samsung 840 Series 2.5 inch 120GB SATA III internal Solid State Drive (SSD) MZ-7TD120BW
Rationale: For the OS and other programs.
HDD:WD Blue 1 TB Desktop Hard Drive: 3.5 Inch, 7200 RPM, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64 MB Cache - WD10EZEX
MoBo: ASUS P8Z77-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K Quad-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 4 Core LGA 1155 - BX80637I53570K
Rationale: I want to avoid CPU bottlenecking. I have chosen the i5-3570k because it seems that a lot of people are able of playing demanding games with it without losing performance.
Case: If you could advice me with the case it would be great. I seek something eye-candy, not too expensive (<= 150$) and good for the previous components.

Thanks in advance.
