A thousand dollar upgrade for a gaming computer.

Hello, I need some help on upgrading my old computer. I mainly use it for gaming. Below are some links to things that I currently have and I think are still usable. I haven't built a computer for a while and I feel like I have forgotten most of my knowledge. I have about a thousand dollar budget for this, and would need to order everything online.

I want to get a new solid state hard drive for a fresh install of Windows 7 x64. I currently have this hard drive as my primary hard drive, and I will be using it as my second hard drive after I get the new one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148337

I have some memory (obviously) but I doubt it is useful anymore: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227298

I currently use this monitor, which seems totally fine to me. I don't really have any interest in upgrading the monitor, but I figured I would include the specs just in case there were any conflicts. I have lost the adapter for the newer video card connection. I can't remember what it is called. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824255001

This is my current case, and again, I am not interested in upgrading the case at all. I haven't gotten any additional fans or anything for the case, but if you guys think that is a good investment I will do so. I have a DVD player but I haven't bothered to even plug it in for a while, and I don't think I will need any of the DVD or CD slots. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119136

I also have speakers so I don't need them.

I would like a new keyboard and mouse, but the problem is that I burn though a keyboard a year or so, and a mouse only lasts me about three months. Usually I just buy the cheapest wired keyboard or mouse I can find as I need them. Yeah, I know it is weird to destroy computer equipment that quick. If you have suggestions for any wireless keyboards or mice (mouses) that are durable and cheap feel free to tell me about those too.

Thanks a lot for the help!

Well that kind of depends. There's definitely a few parts you could port over to the new rig like hard drives and optical drives, there's no need to buy new of those. Case you could definitely get a new one, but things like that RAM won't carry over to the new rig.

Wait to buy this one. If the price isn't too different, get an i5-4570k, a Z87 version of the board I picked, and a GTX 770 instead of these. They'll come out by the end of the first week of June.

I wish I had picked discussion instead of solution. Anyways, so far thanks for the help! Thanatos what is wrong with my current case and power supply? I am going to stick with the already owned optical drive also because I never use the thing. I will definitely wait since I am in no hurry. Thanks again.

It doesn't have USB 3 and you never mentioned what kind of PSU you have. It could be too little or be a bad one.

I don't see any reason to change out the case, but the 1000watt Power supply may need to be changed, based on the power requirements (PCI-E power connectors) of your new graphics card. Essentially, all you really need is a new core system: Motherboard, CPU, RAM. Optional upgrades would include the SSD and Graphics Card. Depending on what Graphics card you get, you may need to replace your power supply (or buy molex to PCI-E adapters).

If you're expecting the GTX 770 to be out by June, think again. I have heard numerous reports of production delays on the processor chip (this is coming from NVIDIA themselves, not fanboy websites) and that has it being pushed back to September, or October at the earliest. And it's not really going to be much of a difference from the 670, if anything. They're just going to be rehashes of the current cards/

Thanatos, good call on the USB 3 thing! I will buy a USB 3 card.
Manofchalk I included a list of things that I thought were still usable. The rest is garbage. I guess it isn't an upgrade as much as it is a new build.
Wolf You are correct. I think the PSU is fine, since it has both types of power connectors.
