So, I was reading quite a bit on people's efforts on overclocking this cpu. I really didn't find a good solution to any of their set ups. So, I decided to post mine and see if anyone can beat it with 100% stability and safe temps AND hopefully someone can recommend something good for me to try
So first off, talking about My 965BE 3.4Ghz CPU. Using a Corsair, H-60 push pull (despite everyone's negative opinions on the h-60, I actually have no problems with overtemp, leaking, or installation. Don't know what everyone is complaining about.)
So far the max settings I can get with 100% stability are:
NB ~2800Mhz @1.275V (NB and NV VID) - I always wondered why have a higher NB speed than what is possible for RAM to deliver, but hey if it goes higher, why not? Also unable to get much higher than this, even at 1.3V.
FSB/HTL @ 234Mhz +.015V - Was the max FSB that I could get, period.
CPU ~ 4Ghz @ 1.4V - Able to get 4.2 @ 1.5V to run, it's not entirely stable though.
HT ~ 2100Mhz +.01V - HT is tricky, hard to measure improvement but this is the max stability I got out of it.
DRAM (G-Skill Sniper 2133Mhz) ~1870Mhz @ 1.6V Unganged(11,11,11,30.. 12Wait) Was not able to get 2133, since my cpu's FSB could not even get near the 266Mhz it needed to be.
PCI-E Bus @ 110Mhz +.015V I can increase this way high, like 150Mhz but I hear if you go past 115Mhz, it starts to mess up the GDDR timing sequences. And I'm bottlenecked at my GPU anyway... Lately Asus puts shit components into it stuff and sucks at oc'ing. (wouldn't recommend even though I used to like them) Def go with Sapphire for AMD or EVA/Gigabyte Nvidia. (heard MSI is starting a downhill trend too)
Anyway, let me know what you were able to get or if you have any suggestions to push it even further. Thanks for reading D:
