Case for silent build

Hey guys. I'm going to be upgrading from my Antec 300 within the next week and have been looking around at some silent cases. I really would like to quiet things down and go for a clean look for my system. It will be the last upgrade for awhile, considering I just upgraded to a mechanical keyboard I feel it is time to upgrade the case. I have looked alot at the Antec p280 and the Fractal Design Define R4. I think I lean more towards the R4 because I can get it with a window as well to display my system. Any thoughts on which is better? Or any suggestions for other quiet/silent cases?

I respectfully disagree. The R4 is a very well reviewed case, it IS a quiet case, and would make an excellent choice. Lian Li cases do not come with sound dampening, and cable management leaves much to be desired. Silverstone offers some quiet cases but expect to pay a lot of money.

Some good quiet cases:

Fractal Design Define R4
Antec P280
Corsair 550D
NZXT H630

Thanks for the replies guys. The only reason I opt for the windowed version was just due to the fact I don't like the look of a single fan on the left panel that I will always keep covered. Rather have a window or nothing. How much louder it would be is the question. I really like the look of the R4, and no one says anything bad about it.

Thanks alot, I was wondering exactly what you just answered. I love the look and design of the R4, I've watched numerous rebiews and I think the windowed version is the case for me. Like you said quieter than your average case, and I'm upgrading from an Antec 300 so I'm sure itll be much quieter. Thanks for your input.

I will also have a look at the other 2 you mentioned (I like the P280 as well and looked at it before the R4).

I think they (LianLi) do come with sound dampening.

Well after watching many reviews and taking all of your advice on the issue I've decided to order the Fractal Design R4, in Titanium with the side window. I'm very excited to rebuild my rig in this case. I'll post how things go, thanks guys! Custom watercooling next I think.

No I've seen a few builds that managed it, it was just difficult. If not that is ok, ultimately my goal is a quieter case than I have with added functionality and I think I'm getting that here.
