i have a strange problem. for a while now windows (7 homepremuim 64x) will freeze on log in. The reason im stumped is because if i wait about 1 min after the log in screen loads and log in it doesnt freeze, and operates completely normal. i have disabled all applications on startup and that didnt help. I also tried to repair windows, repair startup disk, and defraged my hd. Any help would be appreciated.

Also i have tested ram, cpu (reset overclock), gpu (tried a different working one), made sure all cables were plugged in ect..

what happens is that it will be working properly for about 10 seconds (if i log in instantly after startup) then just freezes. no messages, no black screen, no bsod, ect. actually it could be voltage, let me see what happens when i set system voltage to default in bios.

okay so in my bios for some reason it says voltage not optimized, so i set the cpu clock to default and turned system voltage to auto. it didnt change a thing. i dont know why bios says voltage isnt optimized, but i dont think thats the problem.
hmm it seems that did something. it froze like usual, then black screened, computer reset, and then took me to windows recovery. i started windows normally, went to log in then it froze on the actual log in screen. (after you type in credentials, then says welcome)

I do not know much about overclocking, but the behavior sounds like hardware. When it loads to the post screen, see if it identifies all hard drives, memory and anything else that it may say. If it is hard drive (one of them), it will tell you on the black screen. Also your Windows could get corrapted. Did you install anything new? System restore from last point? Power distribution? What power supply do you have?

it recognises my hard drive (i only have one 1 terabyte) when it went to black screen nothing appeared it just restarted. It recognizes my memory, and all hardware. Im thinking my windows is corrupt, because i cant think of anything else that could be an issue. I havent installed anything new that would cause this (all compatible legal software/games) My psu is http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171052

If it is hardware related, you can try to disable memory stick and start it with only one. Also when Windows corrupted, it would say something on the black screen when it loads. Now I am guessing, but if no one suggests anything helpful, start disable parts and strip it down to basics- one memory, MoBo graphics, and so on. I assume- you ran antivirus scan and aware of all your games activity. MoBo to default settings. Try to start Windows from DVD after you disable your main hard drive.
