hello i have had an old laptop for a while now just sitting up on one of my shelves and whenever i look at it i say that could be amazing. i want to turn it into a gaming machine. i dont know if its possible but it would be the coolest thing ever it would be the backup to my other beast of a computer.its a gateway solo1450 give me ideas pleas

Laptops, even new ones, are notoriously hard to upgrade.

A 12 year old machine? Not a chance. I have a Sony VAIO from that period, and there is no way to bring it into this decade.

Best idea I can think of is to drop it off at staples ewaste recycling so you can reclaim your shelf space/not have to look at it. I've got newer ones than that that need to go.

there's no way to make that thing amazing, even if you could find parts to upgrade it.
even a charity that collects old computers for schools in eritrea wouldn't want it. take it to the recyclers.

maxing out RAM and upgrading to a SSD make drastic improvements to computers only a few years old, won't turn them into top of the line gaming rigs but will breathe new life into them for sure.
give us model number and we'll recommend if and what's worth upgrading...
