Hi community. Long time listener (1997?), first time caller.
I have been unable to find any info about this out there on the WWW. So any help is appreciated.
I bought a lap top with windows 7 1.5 years ago that had a native 450 GB HDD in it.
I replaced that with a 250 GB SDD.
When I go into My Computer, it reports the size of the drive as 450 GB.
When I installed windows on the new drive, I installed from a restore disk created from the system install that was on the 450 GB drive.
I think that is the source of the problem.
How do I make windows recognize the new hard drive? (without formatting hopefully)
This is a problem now because I am at 198 GB of used space and I think I am bumping up against the real drive size (Based on the observation of my computer drastically slowing down lately, and then sped up again when I removed a GB of data)
I have ran chkdsk which did not help.
thanks guys
