Hi all,

My new p8z77-I build was fine for a week, and this morning I had a silverstone ft03 mini case come in so I could install the components to the new case. I spent a few hours And got it all put together, only to have no bios load and the fabled yellow monitor issue. I decided to unplug one device at a time to see if it would have any effect. I ended up uninstalling everything but the CPU, ram, and corsair h55. I noticed the dram led on the motherboard fully lit up, and so I plugged in a speaker lead, receiving one long beep and two short beeps.

Other sites have suggested a video card problem but ASUS diagnostic said memory? Im sitting here thinking how could the memory be the issue, the whole computer worked splendidly this morning, I didn't change any hardware besides the case. I took out the motherboard, breadboarded the setup, still same warning. I tried 4 pairs of ram sticks - corsair vengeance, corsair xm3, Kingston hyper blu, and Kingston genesis - all rated at 1600mhz and either 2x2gb or 4x2gb at either 1.5 or 1.65v. I was originally using the vengeance, but the manual said my exact xm3 sticks were supported. None of them helped. I'm stuck trying to diagnose the problem - I know the ram is seated correctly. There's even a "MEM OK!" button I can press on the mobo that will auto test my ram and try to post. None of the sticks, regardless of channel or only 1 in one slot, nothing that you would normally try is working, and the dram led is constantly on.

I can't imagine that I broke the motherboard just by moving it from one case to another, but with a fully working system this morning and 4 different ram sticks tested, I can only think that my $200 itx board is giving in after only a week.

Thoughts, suggestions, etc.? I've checked all connectors on all power supply ends and used canned air to clean. What is causing the motherboard to not detect my ram, when it just did this morning?

Try using the mem ok! button on the motherboard, it will reset your memory timings and clock speed back to default.
Thats probally your problem, if that doesnt work, then use the clear CMOS button, if that fails, then remove the CMOS battery to clear everything.
If all else falls apart, its probally your bios. So just use bios flash back and replace your current one with a newer version
