Please reply ASAP

Just looking at the 2 items listed, you will get more bottlenecking from the i3 than the 7870. New games are using 4 cores now, so a dual core processor will set back gaming performance.

Any i5 would be a good upgrade and help prevent bottlenecking from the CPU.

if think there will be a little bit
check this link it says i5 for the 7870

http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/index.php?gid=675&g...

if price of gtx660 is lower then 7870 then invest more on processor and go with an i5

processor is a very key part because new games require 4 cores
not saying that i3 is not good but 7870 is not a good choice for i3

I have that exact setup (7870xt though) and yes you will notice some bottlenecking in CPU heavy games. It's not a huge bottleneck though, but may become more apparent over time as more and more games run better with a Quad Core chip.

I plan on going for an i5 soon but in no way will you need to rush on getting a quad.

My 7950 is bottlenecked but not a ton. Only about 5-10 fps. Yeah games are moving to quad core but i think you will be good with an i3. If it does bottleneck it will only be 1-3 frames. If you have the money go for a better cpu but if youre on a budget dont worry.

I am going to use the i3 until about christmas time and then swap to an i5, will this damage my 7870 in any way??
