Hi Guys

New to posting on these boards but long time reader and i have to say i love the wisdom of these boards.

Essentially I am looking to buy a build my friend just finished but cant afford.

The system is this

i5 3570k
Gigabyte z77 d3h mobo
Samsung 840 pro 256gb ssd
Gigabyte oc 670 gtx 2gb windforce
8gb ddr3
Windows 8 64 bit
Sharkoon t9 case with white LEDs and three system fans
Corsair 700w 2013 gaming psu
Wireless inbuilt

A couple of questions i would love to have an answer on from this wonderful forum.

1) Do you think this set up could support a second 670 sli'd?

2) What cooling do you think would be needed, there is only stock cooling in this system.

3) What price would you consider fair for this rig?

Thanks in advance

That motherboard is not SLI capable. You could go with an Asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard at $130 to have an SLI-capable motherboard:

You could go with a Hyper 212 Evo cooler at around $30 or an H80i for around $85.

This ends up a wash if you trade those two drives for the 256GB SSD.

I would also suggest a Seasonic modular power supply at 620W to be ready for an SLI setup in the future:

With an DVD combo drive (missing from your list), I'd expect to pay around $1230 new with that case. I would get a better case and put the price around $1300. Also, you might find the 256GB SSD filling up quite fast. I'd get a 120GB or 128GB SSD and use it just for the OS/drivers/utilities and then buy a 500 GB or 1tb WD black edition drive for your applications:

1. No. (Minimum of a 550 Watt power supply.) I think you need a 1000w PSU.

2. if you want to go SLI a water cooling (e.g. Corsair H100i) is must.

Other Thoughts:-

Why do you choose WIN 8 is buggy. You might consider WIN 7, at this moment it's better.

What is Sharkoon t9 case never heard of it. Go for Cooler Master HAF 932, X, or STORM TROOPER, or Corsair, it's better.

This review shows two GTX 670s under load with a system actual usage of 433W:

I'm thinking the original power supply or the 620W I suggested has it covered. No need for 1000W. Actually, now that I think of it, OP will need 4 PCIe connectors for 2 670s, so the Seasonic 650W will do the trick without needing the 4-pin molex to PCIe 6-pin power adapters:

Personally, I prefer self-contained liquid coolers, but you don't need one just because you build an SLI setup. The 600 series GPUs are great at getting the heat out of the back of the case. Custom fan profiles can keep the GPUs in the 60C-70C range easily. Why do you feel an H100i is in order with an SLI setup?

I do agree with you regarding Windows 7 versus 8. Windows 8 is just plain buggy. The "Blue" release should be the SP1 we're all waiting for, but until then, I won't voluntarily install it.

I agree on the case 100%. You don't want a cheap case causing you unknown problems. You have to remember this thing is connected to the motherboard. It can cause issues if it uses cheap wiring or shortcuts have been taken in other areas of production.
