Good evening forum!

So recently our company just purchased some new computers. We went from xp to windows 7 to completely update our systems. These lenovo computers run extremely slow and it seems like the ram is almost always maxed out when starting a program like quickbooks.

Here is the direct link to the computers we have bought.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883265014

What can we do to improve the speed of the computer when doing such menial tasks? I was thinking about just upgrading the ram to 4gbs.

We typically only run stuff like quickbooks, PDF's, word documents and web browsing.

If you could please list some suggestions of parts I can use to upgrade these things to not be so slow.

Thanks for your time and help in advance! :D

Have an amazing day!

This is why I don't deal with prebuilts. The reason your rigs are slowing down and using all available RAM is because of all the junk software OEMs like Lenovo load these PCs down with. If you have any available Windows discs I heavily suggest wiping the OS from the hard drive, doing a full format and full reinstall of Windows using only the bare minimum drivers. Once you do that your PCs should speed up considerably. If they don't you might want to look at adding SSDs.

Thanks g-unit1111. Yeah I know what you mean I just figured for work purposes that it would be a good choice but apparently it causes more stress and frustration than anything. Screw pre builts next time we update our system I'm just gonna build them. Cannot stand how slow these things are. Almost feels like my smart phone is faster lmao. Anyways thanks for the heads info!

Hello,

Well, the reason for the usage of RAM is so high, is either your system's are not virus free (which I dont think is the case) or your system is running too much programs in the program which are enabled to run at startup. I agree with G-Unit that OEM manufacturers tend to add more programs which are not essential, I'd suggest you try that process which he has mentioned. If you still face the issue then manually enabling the programs which you need to run at startup using msconfig. Else I think you need a memory upgrade.

If you need a memory upgrade then try the following website:

Good luck!! Adios :cheese:

Hello Legohouse,

Yeah I went on Ccleaner and wiped out everything that was a lenovo program. And that helped tremendously. Then I went and purchased these g skill. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231193 . It's funny cause a lot of the program details that I deleted that were made by lenovo said that they were there to improve the performance and speed of the computer but it actually sucked all the juice out of the poor thing lol. Its fixed now and they are running a lot better. Thanks for your input :D

Yeah I just bought a Y500 and the first thing I always do whenever I get a new PC like that is to immediately go and remove all junk software. Usually I just wipe it but with Windows 8 Lenovo doesn't include serial numbers on the back of the PC ( :fou: ) so I have to take out all the junk software through the add / remove programs dialogue.

Really? How does that thing handle games? Or do you even use it for gaming? I bought a razer edge 6 months ago and it does ok but it doesnt let you customize a lot. It's kinda werid lol. Really windows 8 doesnt have the serial number with it? that sucks! You would think buying new meant good performance. haha.
