First off I KNOW 32gb IS OVERKILL FOR GAMING!!..but I'm curious on why Windows 7 "PRO" x64 is only recognizing 16Gb.
The bios and CPU-Z( which is weird since Windows itself only sees 16gb)recognizes my 4 sticks of 8gb Crucial Tactical RAM.
I have seen other threads of this but with no solution as of yet.
I have tried different DIMM slots. I am currently in the 2 red DIMMS split up on either side of the CPU which is the recommended config for that many sticks of RAM in the manual. I have tried XMP on and off in bios and tried different memory speed settings. Has anyone found out why this is happening? Does 32GB only work when all 8 DIMMS are filled? I dont have the hardware to try that out.

Thanks in advance.

RIVE owner here,

First, make sure that you have the two auxiliary power connectors plugged in. Those are the 6 pin PCIe connector and 4 pin floppy connector located just above the PCIe slots. The 8 slots on my motherboard work just fine without it, but I would still recommend connecting them.

Second, Windows 7 Professional does support 192 GiB of memory, but Home Premium supports only 16 GiB for marketing reasons. Try booting an Ubuntu Linux Live CD and see if the Live OS detects all 32 GiB.

I have all the AUX mobo power(main 24 pin, the 6pin, and another 4 pin I believe) connected except the one that takes the little floppy power connector. I'll try that too though.
Just curious if it was a lack of power issue then why would the bios and a windows program like CPUz see it but Windows does not.

I had a bunch of problems with my RIVE including components not receiving power until I hooked up that 4 pin floppy connector. You should also have the 8 pin EPS auxiliary connector and the 4 pin EPS tertiary connector connected. These are pretty self evident though. In total you should have:

24 pin EPS main connector
8 pin EPS auxiliary connector
4 pin EPS tertiary connector
6 pin PCIe connector
4 pin FDD connector

I agree that it's probably not a power issue, but it's good to have all of those connected anyway. My suspicion is that you have Windows 7 Home Premium installed, as that's the only case that I can think of where CPUz and the OS will disagree on the amount of installed memory.

Alternatively, check the Windows Resource Monitor, on the memory tab you'll be able to see a breakdown of the physical memory space. On a 64 bit system, only a few megabytes of memory will be reserved for hardware with the rest either being in use, free, or in standby (used for cache, but available to applications). If you see a 16GiB chunk of "hardware reserved", it's time to test those DIMMs using Memtest 86

I 100% have Win7 Pro x64 installed..I've never used Home ED. I will hookup the remaining FDD power connector and see if that does anything...Thanks for the Help!
