I have a Precision T3400 here that won't properly go into standby. When i go to put it into standby, Windows does go into its low-power state by shutting off the monitors and the power button will start blinking like it should, but the computer is still on. The CPU fans are on, hard drive activity is on too. And when i try to wake it up, I can't, the only way to bring it back is to hold down the power button and force it to shut down, because nothing will wake it up. How can i fix this?

You might try opening a command prompt window (Windows Logo key + R, cmd.exe) and running the following command without the quotes:

"powercfg /requests"

This will query the power management on your computer and ask if anything is requesting that it be kept on.

As for the computer's lack of response when you try to wake it, that could be your mouse or keyboard being configured to be unable to wake a computer. Not likely the case, but always something to check when trouble shooting.

The funny thing is that when the light blinks when it's supposedly in standby, even though the computer is still clearly on, i try to wake it by the power button, and that doesn't even do it. I did try that command, and there wasn't anything listed.
