Ram appears as 1333 instead of 1600

I have 2x4gb sticks of corsair vengeance low profile ram, but in my mobo bios screen it recognizes it as 1333. I have a gigabyte ga z77x-d3h.

Should be possible to enable XMP and use its 1600 profile. It's not unusual for 1600 RAM to run at 1333 by default.

So, i just have to change that in the bios screen?

What's your cpu? If it's a sandy bridge (2***), the reason the ram is running at 1333 is because that the memory controller on die only supports up to 1333 without overclocking.

As said above, even if this is the case you should be able to go into the bios and enable the 1600 xmp profile

I actually had the same thing happen to me when I built my current system (Core i5-3450 and DDR3-1600). The RAM defaulted to 1333, and it was just a matter of switching to 1600 in BIOS/UEFI.
