Hi there,
I just got the Bitfenix Prodigy Orange and I would like to install the Bitfenix Recon into the 5.25" bay. My fan configuration will be as follows:
1x 200mm fan in the front
1x 120mm fan in the back
2x 120mm fans on the top.

would you please suggest which fans should suck air in and which ones should blow it out?

I came up with this idea: the front and back fans take air in and the ones on the top take it out (hot air moves upwardly, duh). What do you think?

As for the thermal sensors the fan controller comes with, where are they to be placed inside the case? Like, next to the fans or next to the components (like graphics card, cpu cooler, etc...).

One more question. You can connect up to 5 fans to the Bitfenix Recon and you have 5 3-pin cables labeled FAN1, FAN2, FAN3, FAN4, FAN5. Then you have 5 thermal sensor cables, labeled TEMP1, TEMP2, TEMP3, TEMP4, TEMP5. My question is this: is FAN1 speed automatically adjusted according to the temperature retrieved by TEMP1 sensor? If so, should each sensor be placed where the respective fan blows air to? Like the top fans, if it gets too hot on the top of the case (assuming I put the sensor somewhere in the top of the case), the sensor speeds up the fans so heat is taken out more quickly, am I correct?

thanks

Front is intake pulling in. Rear is exhaust pushing out. Top can be either, but I prefer exhaust pushing out. Your front 200mm will move a lot of air, and have the three 120's as exhaust is your best bet.

You are correct about the sensors. That unit can also be programmed with profiles for different uses, i.e. higher speeds for gaming (more heat) and lower speeds for general surfing, etc.

thanks for the help. I wanted to ask you one more question. I want to get the Noctua NH-D14 for the cpu upgrade. the cooler is very high and almost reaches the top of the case. would it be a bad idea to put 2 exhaust fans on the top? or doesnt it matter?

Unless you are overclocking for a world record on air, the noctua is probably overkill. But, to answer your question, if the fans have sufficient space to fit, I would use them as exhaust. If only one will fit toward the front of the case, that would be fine also - the noctua will move massive amounts of air, but towards the rear exhaust fan location.

So, you think the nh-d14 would be too much? Would a cooler master hyper 212 evo do? I'm going to buy the i5 4670k.

I use the 212 on my 2500k and my temps rarely go above 62. Since we do not yet have data on how warm the new intels will run, it's kinda difficult to guess one way or the other. The only temp info I've seen shows the 4670k running at 85c using the stock cooler.

I personally think the 212 would be fine provided you keep the o/c reasonable. The performance difference between the noctua and the 212 would, as a guess, probably amount to a max of 3-4c.
