CPUID HW Monitor Pro can't change fan speed

I can't manipulate with the speed of any fan in any program, unless I do the following:
-run Speedfan
-go to Configure->Advanced
-select the correct chip on the motherboard
-set PWM Mode to Software controlled
-optionally check "remember it" so that Speedfan does this itself when run
Then all programs that manipulate with fan speeds work.

But I would like to be able to do that without running Speedfan. Can you set these in HW Monitor? Or can you do it from the command console?

Any help is much appreciated.

Disable fan control in the bios(q-fan/smart fan ect), this should unlock the control for any third party program that can control fans.

go into your bios, most motherboards will allow you to control your fans at the root level in the bios.
