Hi all,

Need your help in identifying a good motherboard for this CPU I brought to build an HTPC for a cousin.

AMD A8-5600K Trinity 3.6GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Quad-Core Desktop APU (CPU + GPU) with DirectX 11 Graphic AMD Radeon HD 7560D AD560KWOHJBOX

I am trying to keep the cost at bare minimum. (below 65 dollars will be good, prefer Asus, Asrock or Gigabyte, Must have HDMI)
I have been confused because i see keywords such as Hudson 2, hudson 3, hudson 4 etc with FM2 socket based motherboards. I am not sure if they will work with the cpu.
I have been an Intel boy, and this is the first time i am using AMD just to optimize value against cost.. as this is purely going to be used for an HTPC.

Also will any Ram work for this CPU?

Ok, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128571 This motherboard is perfect for what you want to do.
Ignore Hudson it is just a type of chipset that you do not need to worry about.
I would definitely take into consideration that case I linked you to, As it comes with a 275w power supply which is enough for some graphics cards, but if this guy wants it to be Micro ATX and HTPC, this is pretty much as good as it gets. Unless he wants it to be Mini ITX then i could Link you to this brilliant HTPC case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811345017. Which as enough room for most high end hardware, and it's really compact which will fit well in his...

I think because you are trying to build a HTPC, the motherboard will have to be Micro ATX. And that CPU is socket FM2 so I would recommend this Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131885R. As it has DDR3 RAM availability which is my favorite.

I would recommend this case as it supports micro ATX and it also comes with a Power supply!: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811154062

The power supply is 275 watts which is enough for a Low profile gpu (It means small).

And to to top it off here is some DDR3 RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820239244

Thanks for your responses guys, but none of those motherboards have HDMI port, which is very imp for an HTPC.
Any other suggestions?

I am still not sure about the Hudson D2, and Hudson D3 thing.. will any of these hudson make work with the AMD A8-5600K Socket FM2 CPU's?

Anyways, looking on the egg, i found a couple of decent Motherboards that will go with FM2 motherboard with Hudson D2 make (as Calvin and David suggested two motherboards with Hudson D2), hence thinking that D2 mother board suits my CPU, i looked and found these two..

This one is an MSI board, not sure how they perform? Never used them, although i have used Asus (which i prefer, and gigabyte.. they are ok).

Certainly, my favorite brand for ram, Kingston: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262
For the price, this little beauty works like a charm also, I have it in my machine and it runs so well.

Is $49.99 good for you, It runs in dual channel which i love about these modules.
Any other queries do not be afraid to ask :)

Yours faithfully,

Kieran

Also if you are using that case use this motherboard( it only supports mini itx, which means its smaller and more compact): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157363

Mini ITX are a little bit more expensive (Only like $10) But they are very powerful and compact, that is the only type of motherboard the bitfenix supports mini itx which i have linked you to above ^^

Yours fathfully,

Kieran
