Help! Only getting 1333MHz when it should be 1600

I just got Vulcan 2x4GB DDR3 1600 kit. I installed them and I'm seeing the 8Gb that I should but the speed is only 1333, why am I not getting 1600? CPU-Z says it's in Dual channel, 9-9-9-24 if any of that means anything. I also have a Z77m mobo that only has 2 RAM slots.

Many time, you have to go into the bios and set things manually or use the XMP profile on the memory to set its speed.

I just checked my bios (UEFI) and couldn't find anything that could change RAM speed. What's this XMP profile?

XMP stand for Xtreme memory profile. What motherboard are you using some dont suppourt 1600mhz but chances are your's does. With the specifications of what motherboard it would be easier to tell you how to change the ram profile settings.

I mentioned in my first post that I have a z77m mobo, specifically this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157325 and it does support 1600 according to newegg

The ram that you purchased is probably not suppourted by ASRock which is why its downclocked to 1333. I personally have never even heard of Vulcan memory nore would I purchase it.

That motherboard would auto detect 1600 unless the memory is not suppourted

i was unaware that mobos supported specific brands of RAM.
