This is friggen absurd. I cant access my own external hard drive for some random reason, I cant take ownership of it as everything I can use or even get to close to it is disables (I apparently dont even have permission to view who owns my own external hard drive) This is the admin account and this is absolutely ridiculous! I need to do my homework but oh noooooooo, Im random completely locked out of it. Can anyone help me? Everything Ive read doesn't/won't work :(

You can take the case off the external drive and attach the HDD to your PC with the SATA cable? unless its a laptop that is. But this will really violate your warranty.Or, less intrusive use Hiren's boot disk or similar if you need tools to access the drive from a separate OS than you normally use. But if it is Password or Encryption protected I cannot help you.

Good Luck

Is this external drive used on only one computer or a few?

Thanks for your reply guys! I need to get this hw done tonight and handed in and my computer has the most absurd timing about screwing me over with school. I unfortunately dont think I can hook up my external to my PC and I dont ahve another OS or PC that I can use to try and access it with :(  No this is the only computer its been on, I literally just went on to get my homework like I usually do and bam im totally locked out for some stupid reason, the only thing I can think of is that I disconnected it and reconnected it for the USB slot for my headset momentarily, I think its assigned a different hardrive letter than it usually is

So you disconnected it unsafely...can you see it in disk management? try changing drive letters there

Have you tried changing the default assigned drive letter in the Control Panel - Administrative Tools - computer management - Disk management.

Check to see if your drive is detected by windows. You can change the drive letter if it "lost" the one it had.
