Recently I've noticed that my CPU seems to be idling at really high temperatures according to speccy. and it goes even higher when playing games (That according to specs, i should be able to run no problem at max settings). I've had this laptop for around 6 months and this temp seems abnormally high for me, I don't remember it being this hot before. Is this normal? And if not, what should i do?

Unfortunately, many laptop CPUs do hit those temps when playing game especially if it is a 14" or smaller laptop.

For example, the i5-2410m in my 14" Lenovo IdeaPad Y470 hits 90C to 92C after about 90 minutes of playing games; and that's at less than 1 week old. Other owners in a massive Y470 / Y570 owner thread at NotebookReview confirm those same temps as well as professionally written reviews. Other laptops had similar temps from Dell, HP, Sony, etc. Unfortunately, it seems high CPU temps are the norm when it comes to playing games.

Owners and professionally written reviews for the 15.6" Y570 reported lower temps when play games; like 75C - 80C.

I'll get on this tomorrow and report the results.

IT hits 90c almost instantaneously, the temperature is slightly better when the game is minimized. Is idling at 65-70c normal too?
