I'm looking to buy a asus Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 gen 3 motherboard and I'm wondering if anyone has it and how it does with overclocking for them. I will be using a fx-8350 and cooling it with a corsair h80i. Lastly does anyone have any experience with the h80i and how does it work for them.

Solution
I have the board and love it. Super easy to OC and recovers from an unstable crash very well. Can't say anything about the cooler though

I noticed you have the Samsung 840 SSD, how do you like it? Also what is the highest you have overclock with the hyper 212 evo?

The 840 is great as well. Just gotta make sure you connect it to the right SATA port and that it is running in AHCI mode. I am currently at 4.4Ghz without a voltage increase (I am new to OC and am scared to increase the voltage). My temps are around 33-36 idle and never more than 50 under full load. (measured at the socket)

Those are very decent temps. How well did the evo fit with the ram? I know corsair vengeance has a tall heat sink.

Well if you only have two sticks its no problem. With the fan in push configuration it covers the first slot, but the recommended configuration for this MOBO is to use slots 2 and 4 if you only have 2 sticks, so really its a non-issue for me. Low profile ram would fit just fine though

That's unfortunate. When did you purchase it?

Thanks but unfortunately I was never able to find a store with it in stock so I ended up going with a asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 and I'm very happy with it! Plus with the money I saved from getting the less expensive motherboard I was able to get a bit better GPU!
