I didn't really want to overclock, and I just ended getting the i5 K model because there was nothing else available, but I guess it's something I might do once I need more power for programs such as emulators.

Is it safe to overclock on this cheap board? I just wanna hit 4.2 GHz but I've read posts by people who claim to hit 4.5 GHz with little to no problem.

The cooler I'll use is the Thermaltake Contac 30.

I wouldn't say that the ASRock Z77 Pro4-M is a cheap motherboard. It has a good 4+2 power phase design for a Micro ATX. It is very possible to overclock the CPU to 4.2GHz on that motherboard. That is a low overclock. As for the cooler, I've never used it. A Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO can hold 4.2GHz overclock.
