Carpet+Anti Static Wrist Strap= ?

My house is all carpet (except bathroom and kitchen of course) and i want to be careful when building my pc. Will using a Anti Static Wrist Strap work while working on a table in a carpeted room? If have to work in the kitchen so be it. P.S I hope i posted this in the right thread and im sorry if I didn't.

You can, but I'd still assemble in the kitchen (I did).

You can as in it's a risk but if you don't drag your feet on the carpet while you're doing it and you do use a static strap, you should be OK.
