I have a Corsair CX430 430w that I would like to throw into my new build for now which has the following items:

ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 3770K Desktop Processor
Antec Eleven Hundred Black Super Mid Tower Computer Case
SAMSUNG 840 Series MZ-7TD120BW 2.5" 120GB SSD
PowerColor HD5850 1GB GDDD5 AX5850 1GBD5-MDH
WD Green 1.5 TB 5400rpm drive

Am I asking for trouble or will the power supply be fine? I will not be overclocking.

While it would probably work I would not try it. The CX series uses cheap capacitors and stressing the power supply could lead to instability or even failure. If you had a 7850 or even a 6850 I would say go for it but the older 5850 uses more power.
