All systems go -except nothing shows on the monitor? Is my graphics card too outdated?

This is my first time building a new desktop. I've attached my PSU to the Motherboard, GPU, and all the other necessary hookups. When I power it on, all the fans turn on (I have no way of hearing the beeps because the speakers aren't hooked up) except I get no signal from the monitor. Could anyone take a look and help please?

Specs:
Motherboard: ASRock DDR3 1333 Intel - LGA 1155 Motherboards (H77M)
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007OCJWTM/ref=oh_details_o01_s05_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
GPU: 768MB BFG Tech GeForce 8800 GTX 384bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready Sli Support HDCP Video Card BFGR88768GTXE http://
CPU: Intel i5 3570
PSU: Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS (CX600)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 8 GB ( 2 x 4 GB ) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) 240-Pin DDR3 Memory Kit

I connected my monitor to the first GPU's DVI socket. Could it be that my GPU is just too old to work with the new spec of this build? I'm worrying I might've short-circuited my motherboard while constructing it because I made it on carpet.

What do you recommend? New GPU? New Motherboard? Thanks in advance to you all!

Take the mobo out of the PC case connect all - CPU , RAM , VGA , PSU , 4 pin mobo connector , GPU 6 pin connectors ( IF YOU HAVE )
Look for you Mobo manual and find power on button pins on the mobo
Using screwdriver tip short the power on pins on the mobo - that`s how you gonna power on you system out of the PC Case
If you have Power On Self Test ( POST ) and image on the monitor you have shorten the mobo while you have put all in the Case - double check screwing holes you have used and the nut under it.
If you have NO POST you have some other issue
Read you Motherboard User Guide to see how you have to connect speaker - it`s connected on the mobo pins - the same spot where you connect the PC Case Power/Reset/Power LED/HDD LED cables
System beeps sounds are not made by the Stereo Out Speakers connected to the 3,5 mm stereo out port !

Possible cause :
Bad RAM contact - beep sounds
Bad GPU contact - beep sounds
Mobo BIOS ver. lower than needed for the CPU you have - you may not or you may have beep sound

Double check 4 Pin PSU cable connected to the mobo.
Try other PSU

And i think i cant get any thing else ... :)
And try be more specific :
Motherboard Model ?
