Which HD7870 is for me?

Hello,

I'm currently going through a big upgrade stage, as to why I'm posting quite often in various parts of the forum.

So, I'm hopefully upgrading my HD6770 to a HD7870/HD7950, but I'd like to know which company's cooler is the best. I'm either going for Asus' DirectCU V2 cooler, or the MSI Black Knight cooler. Ideally, it needs to be Black/Red, as this is the theme of my system. I'll be getting the card in a month or two, when the prices come down a little. I'm looking for low temps and low noise. Size is not an issue, as it'll be going in my Shinobi XL

there is a difference between 7870 and 7870XT/LE, the 7870 uses the old Pitcarin chip which is lower in performance compared to the 7870XT/LE which uses a toned down version of the 79xx chips - Tahiti LE, 7870XT is almost on par with a 7950 an costs only a bit more than the 7870 Pitcarin

as for the question, i would go for the Sapphire 7870XT recommended by byogamingpc or this Powercolor 7870 MYST which is a 7870XT if you want red & black theme

Just out of interest, my case will have 6 Corsair AF120 fans, 3 intake at front and bottom, as well as 3 exhaust at top and back. I'm not looking for ultimate performance, just better than my HD6770. I can get a DirectCU Asus card for £185 inc. Shipping in the UK, wheras a Sapphire one is £210. Is the extra £25 worth it?
