Hello, I recently purchased these parts to build a new PC for myself:

AMD FX-6300 6-Core FX Series - cpu
2GB XFX HD7850 CORE Ed. 860MHz - graphics card
MSI 970A-G43 MoBo - motherboard
500G WD5000AAKX SATA3 HDD - hard drive
500W SST-ST50F-ES -psu
8GB 2x4G CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 XMS3 - ram
Sharkoon VS3-V Chrome Mid 3326 - case

I read the manual and proceeded to assemble it. I made sure each ofthe front panel switches/leds were plugged into the correct pin on the motherboard and I made sure that the CPU power connector was plugged in. I checked that the ram and the graphics card were seated properly and that the graphics card had power.

I finally gave it plugged it in and hit the power switch. The fans started whirring and the LEDs at the front came on but there was no video output to my monitor - it just kept saying No Signal. I took off one of the case's side to investigate more.

I restarted it to see that the CPU's cooler fan was going, the graphics card's fan was spinning, the PSU's was too and so were the case fans. The hard drive was function as well.

I promptly hit up google and came across this checklist: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems

I've gone through each step but to no avail, the fans come on but there is still no output. Does anyone have any idea for my next steps?

I've also replaced the graphics card with a fairly old one but it did not yield different results. I've also powered on with 2 sticks of RAM, 1 stick and no stick but either the motherboard speaker doesn't work or my motherboard is fried completely? Does it come down to having a bad mobo?

Thanks

Check that the mb not shorting to the mb tray. If you used an after market heat sink make sure the back plate if it was metal you used the foam spacer to keep it from shorting out. Check the mb shield. A lot of times one of the legs will short the bottom or fall into the USB ports causing a dead short. Last is look at the bios rev sticker on the mb check to see if it at a rev that post with your new CPU.

I've checked repeatedly to see if anything other than the stand-offs are touching the motherboard and I'm sure that nothing is shorting it out. I'm only using the stock cooler. I've checked and it should work but

:(

Check the bios rev of the mb and look online to the CPU guild for your mb. It should list the bios needed to post with the CPU. Check to see if your mb bios is updated to post with the newer CPU. If the CPU has onboard video pull the gpu and see if you can get onboard video to come on.

thanks for your help, smorizio - and sorry for this late reply

i check the bios revision and checked the compatibility online and they should have worked. i couldn't find any other reason for it to fault other than a busted mobo because the speaker was not beeping.

i raised got RMA for the cpu/ram/mobo and the components were tested by my retailer. they also found the mobo to be faulty and it wouldn't post. so, fortunately for me, they were giving me credit back for the faulty board and i upgraded to an Asus M9A57 evo r2.0 after reading about msi boards.

got the new motherboard today after some delays due to stock etc.

installed it, plugged everything in. hit the power button and it posted first time and now it's running perfectly. in fact, i'm posting this from the new machine.

so there's the solution to my problem for anyone that cares: cheap faulty mobo, replaced it and it my machine works perfectly
