hey guys,
At the moment my area does not support fibre optic so am i stuck at around 7mb. on most servers it is a bit laggy and i was wondering if i should blow my money on a PC if it wont be the best experience it can be because of the internet?

7mbit internet is plenty for online gaming. What nails you is latency. Try/ filter for servers with low ping. If no servers are low ping for you, adding bandwidth wont help your latency if the infrastructure just isnt there

I spent £1000 on my system, despite living in the middle of field with a 1mb/s download. It took a week to download GTA IV and about a day to download any sizeable BF3 update.

Do I regret it? Not a second.

It is also more about connection quality than speed. Test your connection at http://www.pingtest.net/ and post the result.
