Hi guys,

For the last 3 years I've been using this:

http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06c/A1-329290-69998-329251-329251-1810894-3998844.html?dnr=1

The only mouse at the time I could get my hands on with >1000 DPI

It has 2 huge disadvantages
1)It has a range of 50 cm (or less)
2)It goes through batteries the same way I go through ice cream!

I have small hands and I use a palm grip with this mouse, index finger on left click, middle finger on right click, ring finger on the side and I drag the pinky on the pad for reference. its just a bit too small for me but not too small to be uncomfortable (there are dimensions in the link for reference).

Now I'm looking for a new mouse for work mainly, gaming if I have time, I couldn't care less about extra buttons/customization or wired/wireless. Good grip and 2000+ DPI are the only things I'm looking for.

these are the options that I have, my budget is $30 to $50, might go over if there is something thats really worth it (I won't cheap out on something that I use countless hours/day, tho saving money is always a plus ;)

Thanks guys!

i have average sized guy hands and i use the exact same grip style that you do. i use an older razer deathadder (not the new 2013 version) and it works great. i've included some photos and a ruler for scale.

Ebay Link you may want to check out for the original non 2013 version of the deathadder. currently its going for $25 and was used once. honestly not a bad deal considering its better than the new version (the new version is tied to the synapse 2.0 software which blows, the old one still has normal drivers you can download).

looks like bidding is over, I can get one of the older transformers deathadder for $49 or ex-demo for $39, tho not a big fan of the colors.
Currently leaning towards the G400, but I hear the scroll is garbage.

btw, what are those gamepads in the background? I recently bought the Logitech F710, very happy with it, but I would've been happier with something black!

$35 buy it now price for used deathadder. i'm sure there are other results as well just have a look around if interested.

honestly i have to say that just about everything is perfect on the old style deathadders from fit to specs.

choose what works best for you but since you have the same grip style i thought i would chime in.

in the background are logitech g-x2d11 which are playstation2 wireless controllers. they are not meant for pc use unlike the logitech f710 and only work with the ps2. when i need to play games in windows with a controller i use my black ps3 controller with the motioninjoy drivers. it even works in bluetooth since my mobo has a bluetooth module!

for less confusion this is a bigger photo of everything.

I think I found the middle ground, http://www.scorptec.com.au/computer/40409-rz-deathadder-bk
Not a big fan of used stuff (warranty and all of that) and I'd get this just for the fact its all black, not glossy and no crazy green lights since I'll use it at work too!

Anything else I should consider before pulling the trigger?

i'm not sure which drivers the black edition uses. the old drivers like old version or the shitty synapse program like the new one. the texture of that mouse is like the new mice (the old ones were rubberized on top with glossy black sides) so my guess would be it is closer to the new era of mice. dont get me wrong the fit should be identical to the old series but you may want to think about the drivers. or just use the mouse without drivers perhaps.

the G500 just looks way overpriced ($70), double the G400($35) and the G500S is already out for ($90). These prices are just insanely high for what they offer in return.
